Job Description
The Behavioral Health Counselor role supports adults without dependent children facing mental health, substance use, or homelessness challenges through culturally competent, brief counseling and pre-vocational services.
Provides short-term mental health and substance abuse counseling, case management, and referrals within a collaborative framework.
Conducts biopsychosocial assessments to determine client needs and suitability for services or work assignments.
Engages clients through outreach at Navigation Centers and facilitates workshops on soft skills such as goal setting, conflict resolution, and job retention.
Maintains clinical records in compliance with policies, offers crisis intervention, and provides consultation to staff.
Participates in team meetings, case conferences, and supervision to support client care and professional development.
Minimum qualifications include an MS/MA in a related field, current BBS licensure, and at least one year of community-based experience providing case management, assessment, and counseling to underserved adults.
Preferred qualifications include experience with vocational rehabilitation, knowledge of local community resources, and familiarity with electronic health records systems.
