Job Description
The Recreation Therapist plans, organizes, and supervises recreational activities to promote healthy lifestyles, socialization, and skill development for youth in a human services setting.
Develops and implements diverse programs including arts, sports, drama, music, and community trips tailored to individual treatment plans.
Supervises facility safety, performs maintenance, and manages risk to ensure a secure environment.
Documents progress, participates in treatment teams, and supports positive youth engagement through role modeling and skill-building.
Supervises recreational activities for up to three youth and assists with special event planning.
Qualifications include a relevant bachelor’s degree, youth recreation experience, CPR certification, and a valid driver’s license. OMH-funded positions require a Master’s and CTRS credential.
Skills needed include effective communication, conflict resolution, behavior management, and teamwork. The role offers full-time hours, competitive pay, and benefits, with a requirement to work in Auburn, NY, and relocate if necessary.
