Job Description

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will deliver specialized inpatient care for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients in the CVICU and CV Stepdown units.

  • Provide comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage post-op recovery.
  • Order and interpret diagnostics, prescribe medications, and perform bedside procedures within scope.
  • Participate in patient education and discharge planning, ensuring safety and protocol adherence.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR.

    • Schedule includes PRN 12-hour daytime shifts with no on-call duties.

    Education required: Master’s in Nursing (or within 24 months).
    Experience: At least 1 year in cardiovascular/thoracic surgery or advanced practice nursing, CVICU preferred.
    Licensure: RN license (Virginia or Compact), NP license preferred, national certification required, BLS and ACLS certifications necessary.
    Skills: Strong clinical judgment, communication, collaboration, familiarity with CVT protocols. This role is in-person.
