Job Description
The Substance Abuse Therapist provides individual, group, and family therapy to clients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Conducts biopsychosocial assessments, develops personalized treatment plans, and facilitates evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Leads group therapy sessions on topics like relapse prevention, coping skills, and trauma. Provides individual and family counseling when appropriate, ensuring accurate documentation and care coordination. Supports discharge planning and transition to aftercare, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Requires a Master’s degree and active state licensure; preferred experience includes at least 2 years in behavioral health or substance use treatment.
Skills include strong facilitation, documentation, crisis intervention, and teamwork abilities.
Work environment involves office, residential, and outpatient settings, with shifts that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
