Job Description

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive primary care in a community health setting under medical director supervision.

  • Performs health assessments, diagnoses, and manages acute and chronic conditions with a focus on underserved populations.
  • Collaborates with healthcare team members, referring complex cases to physicians as needed.
  • Provides health education, counseling, and performs minor procedures, emphasizing culturally sensitive care.
  • Supervises staff, participates in protocol development, and contributes to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Completes documentation and maintains ongoing education to ensure quality services.


    • Qualifications include current Iowa NP licensure, board certification in family or primary care, bilingual skills preferred, and experience with low-income populations.

    Physical demands involve mobility, visual and hearing abilities, and the capacity to transfer patients. The work environment is typically low to moderate noise with exposure to health hazards. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.
