Job Description
We are seeking a Board-Certified Nephrologist to provide on-site care for Veterans at a VA Medical Center. This role includes weekly outpatient clinic sessions and on-call coverage as needed.
Key responsibilities include
Providing comprehensive nephrology consults in inpatient and outpatient settings
Managing AKI, CKD, ESKD, fluid/electrolyte disorders, hypertension, nephrolithiasis, and kidney transplant patients
Evaluating extracorporeal treatments for poisonings
Prescribing and overseeing kidney replacement therapies
Providing bedside consults and documenting care in the electronic health record
Participating in quality and safety processes
On-call expectations include
Availability by phone within 15 minutes
On-site arrival within 60 minutes when required
Coverage includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications include
MD/DO with accredited training
Board Certified/Eligible in Nephrology (ABIM or AOBIM)
Active, unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
Current BLS or ACLS certification
Fluency in English and eligibility for VA credentialing
