The role of the Advanced Practice Professional (APP) involves independently delivering care for children with complex, critical, and chronic illnesses under physician supervision.

Key responsibilities include performing assessments, managing orders, reviewing labs and imaging, communicating with families and the medical team, and assisting with discharge planning.

Qualifications require a Master’s degree, pediatric acute care experience, and appropriate licensure/certification (e.g., FNP-BC, CPNP-AC, PA-C). BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications are mandatory. Bilingual skills and EMR knowledge are preferred.

The position emphasizes confidentiality, adherence to policies, excellent communication, and teamwork. Ongoing education and credentialing are essential to maintain privileges and meet hospital standards.
