Job Description
The Recreation Therapist plans, organizes, and supervises recreational activities to promote healthy leisure, socialization, and skill development for youth in a human services setting.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s (or master’s with CTRS certification for OMH-funded programs) in Therapeutic Recreation or related field, with relevant youth recreation experience. Certifications such as CPR and potentially lifeguard are required. Skills include youth engagement, conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques. The role requires an NYS driver’s license, ability to work independently and within a team, and a commitment to professional ethics.
