General Anesthesiologist

Job Description

The General Anesthesiologist position is a full-time role based in Virginia Beach, VA, reporting to Dr. James Oleksa, with supervisory responsibilities.

They will provide anesthetic care across multiple outpatient surgical centers, conducting patient evaluations, developing anesthesia plans, and supervising certified registered nurse anesthetists. Responsibilities include administering general and regional anesthesia, monitoring patient vital signs, managing airway procedures, and overseeing post-operative recovery.

Qualifications include a medical degree (MD or DO), board certification or eligibility in anesthesiology, VA medical license, and at least 3+ years of relevant experience. Strong regional anesthesia skills are required. The role demands excellent communication, safety commitment, and teamwork in a sometimes high-stress environment.

This position involves frequent patient and staff interaction, office-based work, and supervision of medical staff, with opportunities for potential partnership. EOE policy applies.
