Job Description

This contract psychiatrist role involves diagnosing and treating emotional and psychiatric disorders across a broad age range, focusing on clients with serious mental illness, dual diagnosis, and substance abuse issues.

  • Requires a Doctorate in medicine (MD), valid licensure, and residency completion; experience with serious mental illness and buprenorphine prescribing is preferred.
  • Core skills include analytical thinking, collaboration, diagnostic assessment, effective communication, and clinical expertise.
  • Responsibilities encompass conducting mental health evaluations, prescribing and monitoring medications, providing psychotherapy, coordinating care, documenting in electronic health records, and participating in treatment planning and emergency assessments.
  • Additional duties involve collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with policies, participating in committees and research, and being available for emergency calls.
  • Work environment is moderate noise, with physical demands and potential exposure to health hazards. Must be able to work in person in Raleigh, NC, with relocation required prior to start.

    Compensation ranges from $200-$245/hour for approximately 25-30 hours weekly, Monday to Friday day shifts.
