Psychiatrist Medical Director

Job Description

We are seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to manage a caseload of approximately 40 long-term inpatient psychiatric patients at a secure facility. The role involves comprehensive evaluations, medication management, treatment planning, and participation in interdisciplinary team meetings.

Key responsibilities include conducting assessments, diagnosis, treatment, referrals, and providing therapy as needed. The psychiatrist will serve as the Psychiatric Officer of the Day 2–4 times per week (daytime only), with optional on-call for additional pay. Collaboration with nursing, psychology, social work, pharmacy, and other staff is essential. Additional duties may include supervision, psychotherapy, substance abuse treatment, and court testimony.

Patient population includes adults with severe mental illness, including NGRI and SVP cases, with an average stay of several months. The position offers competitive pay ($140-$160/hr), with 40 hours weekly, no weekends or holidays required, and optional on-call. In-person work at a secure facility.
