Job Description

The Recreation Therapist plans, organizes, and supervises recreational activities for youth, promoting healthy leisure, socialization, and skill development.

  • Develops diverse programs including arts, sports, and community trips aligned with treatment plans.
  • Supervises recreation facilities ensuring safety and performs maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Documents progress, participates in treatment teams, and assists with special events.
  • Supervises activities for up to three youth, completes reports, and supports service plan reviews.

    • Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field, with experience in youth recreation. OMH-funded programs require a master’s degree and CTRS credential. Certifications such as CPR and Lifeguard may be needed. Candidates must hold a valid NYS driver’s license and demonstrate knowledge of de-escalation, conflict resolution, and ethical conduct.

    The role offers full-time employment with benefits, located in Auburn, NY, requiring in-person work and relocation before start. The pay range is $19.50-$28.00/hour.
