Job Description

This contract-based Speech-Language Pathologist position requires a Master’s degree from an accredited institution and current certification from ASHA and the Michigan licensing authority, or a valid Michigan teaching certificate with the appropriate endorsement for TSLI. Experience in urban public schools is a plus.


  • Evaluate students for special education eligibility using various assessment methods.
  • Interpret evaluation results to parents and staff.
  • Develop, implement, and modify IEPs and SMART goals aligned with academic standards.
  • Create a supportive learning environment tailored to student needs.
  • Counsel students, parents, and teachers about communication disorders.
  • Collaborate with school staff and external agencies on intervention strategies and participate in RTI and MTSS teams.
  • Maintain positive relationships, participate in training, and deliver workshops.
  • Ensure compliance with special education regulations.
  • Follow MET/IEP procedures and attend staff meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records, including progress reports and billing documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


    This role is ideal for retired speech pathologists, with small caseloads, and offers flexible hours during the school day, paying $50-$60 per hour.
