Job Description
The Language, Speech, and Hearing Specialist identifies, evaluates, and remediates students with communication disorders in a school district dedicated to diverse, quality public education.
Requires a valid California teaching credential for language, speech, and hearing handicapped students and successful experience working with such students.
Conducts screenings, evaluations, and develops instructional programs to improve students’ communication skills.
Collaborates with teachers, staff, parents, and community members; plans and coordinates therapy and instructional activities.
Maintains records, reports, and manages therapy programs; supervises paraprofessionals and volunteers.
Participates in meetings, training, and district committees; supports school and community programs.
Full-time, in-person role during school days and required non-teaching days, on the teachers’ salary schedule based on experience and training.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and appropriate credential; work schedule is Monday through Friday. The position involves working across multiple schools, with responsibilities spanning assessment, intervention, collaboration, and program development to support students with speech and hearing needs.
