Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Band 6 Nurse in Charge for ophthalmology services across North Wales, South Wales, and Midlands, starting ASAP until the end of March with potential extension. This full-time role involves leading insourced nursing teams in outpatient clinics, wards, diagnostics, and theatre settings, ensuring high-quality patient care and safety.

Responsibilities include providing clinical leadership, overseeing ophthalmic assessments (visual acuity, slit lamp exams, intraocular pressure, OCT, retinal imaging), assisting with procedures (intravitreal injections, laser treatments), and supporting ophthalmologists during surgeries.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with significant ophthalmology experience
  • Strong leadership and autonomous working skills
  • Ability to manage complex clinical demands
  • Competence in ophthalmic assessments and procedures
